Teamster reform group backs Hall The Teamsters' largest reform group has endorsed Ken Hall for theunion's presidency, making him the likely candidate to face offagainst James P. Hoffa. Hall, a key figure in the union's contractnegotiations with United Parcel Service of America Inc. last year,inherits the reform-wing mantle formerly worn by Ron Carey, thecurrent Teamsters president who is on an unpaid leave to defendhimself against corruption charges. Carey narrowly defeated Hoffain 1996; his victory was set aside when a plan to divert union fundsto Carey's campaign treasury was uncovered last year. Carey hasdenied any involvement.
