NSW: Mobile crane workers to be layed off during Olympics
Workers in the construction industry say the New South Wales government's ban on the
use of mobile cranes on public roads during the Olympics would see mass lay offs throughout
the building industry.
Construction Forestry Mining and Energy Union state secretary ANDREW FERGUSON says
the ban is entirely unsatisfactory.
Mr FERGUSON says the ban would be an act of bastardry perpetrated on the very people
who built the Olympics - on time and within budget.
He says if the thanks construction workers get is needless unemployment, there's going
to be trouble.
Mr FERGUSON says shuuting down the cranes effectively means shutting down the industry.
