FED: Lower taxes for majority of Australians - Rudd

The Prime Minister says he wants to cut the amount of tax faced by the vast majority
of Australians.

In a key speech delivered three days before release of the long-awaited Henry tax review
.. KEVIN RUDD has hinted he's also aiming to help small businesses and working families.

The review .. by Treasury secretary KEN HENRY .. is due to be published on Sunday with
the Federal government to deliver its response on the same day.

Speaking to the New South Wales Business Chamber today Mr RUDD says the Government's
response to the Henry review will make the tax system stronger and fairer.

He says the government aims to improve the structure of the tax system and streamline
administration to reduce complexity.
