The Citizens of Albany for Responsible Education, the group of insurgents who managed to win a majority of the school board seats, made the right choice in deciding to disband.
In 1989, three CARE candidates fairly shocked the Democratic machine when it placed three of its members on the board. In the election this year, it won an outright majority by placing a fourth on the board.
Credit is certainly due to the CARE team for finally breaking the machine's grip on the board. The school board truly did become more representative than it had been under the old order.
